Trader Joe’s Chicken Products Subject for Recall

Trader Joe’s has recalled over 100,000 pounds of chicken products owing to the possibility of bone fragment contamination.

FSIS On The Recall

According to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the affected products include Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and its Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders.

According to the FSIS, Trader Joe’s became aware of the situation after consumers reported chicken bone contamination.

The FSIS said that the Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders products were shipped to Trader Joe’s locations nationwide.

Despite the discovery of bone fragments, the FSIS says that no customers have reported becoming ill or suffering from any injuries as a result of the contamination.

What To Do with the Product

Customers who have these chicken products in their freezers should inspect the packages to determine whether they are affected by the recall. The Chile Lime Chicken Burgers with the affected lot codes are:

  • 2281
  • 2291
  • 2311
  • 2351
  • 2361
  • 2371
  • 2441
  • 2511
  • 2521
  • 2531
  • 2561
  • 2591
  • 2601
  • 2671, and 
  • 2721

The recalled Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders are 9-pound bulk packs having 72 pieces with lot codes:

  • 2361 and
  • 2631

Customers are urged to discard the recalled products or return them to the store. Both products were distributed throughout the country and manufactured between August 16 and September 29.
