Tesla Seat Belts Not Properly Attached, and Brake Bolts Might Be Loose, Subject For Recall
Thousands of Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles have been recalled by the electric carmaker this week due to seat belt safety concerns and loose brake caliper bolts.
More than 7,000 2018-2020 Tesla Model 3 and 2019-2021 Model Y vehicles are affected by two recalls issued by Tesla on Thursday. Concerns regarding seat belt security – a potentially harmful vehicle safety defect – prompted the recalls.
According to Tesla’s notice to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one of the recalls involves the defective shoulder belt in over 5,500 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
According to Reuters, the notice claims that the front shoulder belts in the recalled vehicles may not be properly fastened due to the defects.
Furthermore, over 2,100 Tesla Model Y vehicles have been recalled due to issues with the left and right second-row seat belt retractor fasteners.
No Injuries Reported, Says Tesla
Tesla told the NHTSA that no injuries had been reported as a result of the safety belt recalls. However, the automaker claims it will evaluate vehicles and, if necessary, fix them for free.
Another Recall In China
Tesla is also facing a recall in China, which was issued on Thursday. According to the country’s State Administration for Market Regulation, the company recalled 700 Model 3 vehicles due to concerns regarding seat belts or tires, according to The Hill.
Additionally, the electric automaker had just recalled approximately 6,000 2019-2021 Model 3 and 2020-2021 Model Y vehicles due to potentially loose brake caliper bolts the day before.
According to the documentation provided to the NHTSA by the automaker, the recalled Teslas could lose tire pressure if the caliper bolts break loose, increasing the danger of an accident. In addition, owners of recalled Tesla vehicles are encouraged to bring them in for a free inspection and repair.
