Authorities from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued a recall on infant products sold at Target – warning the public of the possible choking hazard they can pose to very young users.
According to online reports, the CPSC has specifically ordered the recall of two infant products, the B. toys Light-Up Firefly Teether Glowy Chews – Firefly Frank and Cat & Jack Baby Hearts Ears Rompers, due to fears of choking hazard that affects its target user demographic.
Both products contain small components that can break off and can cause an oblivious child to choke on them.
For B. toys Light-Up Firefly Teether Glowy Chews – Firefly Frank, a plastic infant teether, its wings can detach when shaken vigorously.
There were 14 instances of the wing component breaking off the main product, and there was a child that reportedly choked on it by accident.
On the other hand, Cat & Jack Baby Hearts Ears Rompers were recalled because their heart component can detach and pose a choking hazard.
Cat & Jack Baby Hearts Ears Rompers is an infant romper that contains heart components placed on its knees and hood. There were 40 reported incidents of the infant romper’s heart detaching – one report indicated a child choking on it.
Target, the company that carries both of the products in their stores, reportedly sold more than a hundred thousand units of the recalled infant products between as early as mid-2019 up to February of this year.
B. toys Light-Up Firefly Teether Glowy Chews – Firefly Frank retailed between $6 and $10 while Cat & Jack Baby Hearts Ears Rompers sold for $13 apiece.
Authorities have warned the general public of the risk of the continued use of the recalled infant products.
