Sunshine Mills Dog Food Recall; Are You Affected?
Recently, Sunshine Mills announced its voluntary recall of three dog food products that may contain elevated levels of aflatoxin.
According to reports, if Aspergillus lavus grows, it can lead to the natural occurrence of a mold-by product Aflatoxin. If this is consumed by dogs in significant quantities, it can lead to harmful effects.
Some of the symptoms of illness that could occur are the following:
- Sluggishness or lethargy combined with a reluctance to eat
- Yellowish tint to the eyes or gums
Up to date, the company hasn’t received any reports of illnesses from their consumers.
This recall includes the following products:
- Family Pet® Meaty Cuts Beef Chicken & Cheese Flavors Premium Dog Food
- Heartland Farms® Grilled Favorites Beef Chicken & Cheese Flavor
- Paws Happy Life® Butcher’s Choice Dog Food
What You Need to Do
For consumers who bought the recalled dog products, they should refrain from feeding it to their pets. Moreover, they can return the unused portion to the place of purchase for a full refund.
