Shrimp is the New…Pork?

Water Lilies Food of Astoria, N.Y., is recalling approximately 1,700 pounds of frozen egg rolls. The egg rolls contain shrimp, an allergen not declared on the label. The product was mislabeled, showing that it was the company’s pork egg roll product, when in fact, shrimp egg rolls were packaged.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

The following shrimp egg roll item, produced on July 12, 2016, is being recalled:

  • 15-oz. (425 g) boxes containing five pieces of “World Menu Egg Rolls Pork” with a best by date of 07-12-2017, a packaging date of 07-12-2016 and a UPC code of 6-88267-06951-2.

The recalled product, bearing establishment number “EST. M21465A” inside the USDA mark of inspection, was shipped to a distribution center in Westfield, Mass.

Customers who purchased the recalled product should not consume it, but throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recall may call 888-387-7669.
