An Ongoing Recall for Pecan Pie Destruction
Sara Lee claims in the recall that people should not use Pecan Pie being sold in many stores nationwide due to its unannounced containment of peanuts.
It has been discovered that they can cause allergic reactions to people susceptible to nuts. Moreover, allergic reactions to peanuts can cause a serious life-threatening incident, and should be taken seriously.
The Claims On The Undeclared Peanuts
Sara Lee Frozen Bakery is a company independently producing baked goods over the years. They are offering a wide variety of baked pastries, and they now have six trusted brands—namely Sara Lee®, Chef Pierre®, Bistro Collection®, Van’s®, Superior on Main®, and Cyrus O’Leary’s®.
The bakery company announced a recall for Sara Lee, Chef Pierre, and Devonshire Pecan Pies produced between March 4 and April 1, 2021, through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
It has come to their realizations that the raw pecans used to create their pies were contaminated with “residual peanuts” amid the transport and storage of their supplier.
The said pies are distributed across the country and in different food outlets. According to the company, “Immediate steps were taken to prevent a recurrence.”
That is why they ask merchants and distributors to recall and discard all pies they have received from the bakery company for the safety of their consumers.
Adverse Effects of Recalled Pecan Pie Intake
Peanuts can cause serious allergic reactions to several people. According to doctors, peanut allergies occur within minutes after a person’s exposure to peanuts.
- skin reactions
- itching of mouth and throat
- digestive problems
- tightening of the throat
- runny nose
- shortness of breathing
According to the company, there are still no reports of ailments or allergic reactions from people consuming their products.
Regardless of the zero casualty cases on the pecan pie intakes, anyone who consumed the products and experienced adverse effects should immediately report it to the retailer or the store they bought the pies from and demand a full refund.
Pecan Pie Products That Need To Be Revoked
The Sara Lee Frozen Bakery issued the products that need to be revoked in the market due to its unpublished peanut contents. These products of Sara Lee are the ones consumers should look out for in order to prevent them from having allergic reactions.
