Nissan Rogue Child Car Seat Recall 2021 – More Than 47,000 Rogues Affected With Children’s Safety Issues…

Nissan Rogue Recall Over Child Safety Issues

Nissan North America recalls more than 47k Nissan Rogue SUVs from the 2021 model year due to the possibility of faulty tether wires that could fail to secure a child car seat from remaining in position during an accident.

Nissan Rogue Recall, 2021

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall on its website on June 24.

It stated that the recall affected 47,098 Nissan 2021 Rogue SUVs made at the company’s plant — Smyrna, Tennessee — between September 23, 2020, and April 20, 2021.

According to Nissan, some Rogues may have had improperly welded upper tether wires to the seatback frame. These wires are a component of the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system, used to secure child safety seats.

Nissan Rogue’s seatback wires may have shifted during the welding process, resulting in an insufficient amount of welding to it. This could result in the wires failing to meet the strength requirements specified in FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) for child restraint systems.

The recall advised that a child seat that is not securely anchored can move during a sudden stop or crash, posing a risk of injury.

Rogue Exclusive

Seats from Nissan Rogue are unique; the issue does not affect any other vehicle of Nissan or Infiniti — the luxury vehicle division of Nissan.

Nissan noted that the company is unaware of any incidents related to the issue and will notify customers when they can bring their vehicles for inspection.

The recall states that dealers would check and repair rear seatbacks as needed for free.

Owners of affected vehicles should anticipate a letter after July 30 or can contact Nissan directly at 1-800-867-7669.

If you enter your vehicle’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into the NHTSA’s website and no recalls appear, your vehicle is not currently subject to any recall.

This is the fourth recall for the 2021 Nissan Rogue; recalls for braking, fuel, and wheel issues are still active.
