Authorities Order Recall Of Allegedly Defective Kidde Smoke Alarms
Almost 226,000 smoke detector units are being ordered for a recall after they were reported failing to activate in the event of a fire emergency.
Fire Alarms Don’t Work In Case Of Fire!
According to authorities from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, hundreds of thousands of Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms are defective and may not function properly during an emergency.
Additionally, other alarms from the same company were also included in the recall, including the combination smoke and carbon monoxide smoke alarm products.
Faulty smoke detectors and alarms may fail to help save lives and prevent further damage to property if they are not addressed or replaced immediately.
The allegedly defective smoke alarms were said to be sold at different outlets, including but not limited to Home Depot, Amazon, and Walmart, from May 2019 to September 2020. Each one retailed for as low as $10.
Officials have directed customers to call Kidde for a replacement of the defective smoke alarm product. While replacements are still being processed, consumers are encouraged to keep on using the allegedly defective smoke alarms to have the least form of protection in cases of fire emergencies.
As of writing, there were no reported incidents of injuries and damage to property that were directly attributed to the allegedly faulty Kidde smoke alarms.
To know whether your smoke alarm is included in the recent recall order, refer to the following:
- Your smoke alarm has a model number Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060, and 2070 printed on the back of the alarm device;
- Only fire alarms that have a label stating ‘AMBER=FAULT’ or a TruSense logo located on the front of the device;
- You have bought the affected Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarm device from Amazon, Menards, and the like between mid-2019 to September of the following year.
Owners of defective Kidde smoke detectors and alarms are asked to contact the company via their official site to find out details on how to proceed with the recall.
