Kia Recalls Its Vehicles Once More For Fears That A Defect May Cause Them To Catch Engine Fire
According to the latest reports released to the public, Kia has raised concerns that some of their Sorento and Optima car models may contain a flaw that can cause fires to break out of their engines.
Per the car company’s announcement, they are recalling Kia Sorento and Optima vehicles that were made in their Georgia plant between mid-2013 to late 2015.
Kia reported that the said defect involved an issue with the cars’ brake fluid. They said that there is a chance that it may leak and lead to a short circuit occurring in the vehicle. This ultimately poses a serious fire hazard to the car owner or lessee.
In their report to the NHTSA or National Highway Safety Traffic Administration, the car company has warned owners to keep an eye on their Sorento and Optima. Signs that they should look out for that might indicate an impending car fire range from a smell of burning or smoke.
In response to the fire hazard, the company has promised to take decisive action by giving Sorento and Optima car owners a better safety method. In the meantime, however, they are asking their customers to park their cars outside in a clear area. This is to lessen the damage possible from a spontaneous fire.
It is expected that Kia will start contacting Kia Sorento and Optima owners and lessees by early July. They will be given an opportunity to bring their cars to a nearby dealership for repairs to fix the brake fluid issue.
The company assured that this will be free of charge. On the other hand, customers who have already had their cars fixed will be refunded their out-of-pocket repair fees. They only need to contact the company for the complete details on how to get their money checks.
