Hyundai Santa Fe, Veloster, Konas, and Elantra Recall 2021 – Two Hyundai Recalls Covering More Than 390K Select Cars Over Fire Risks…

Hyundai Initiates Recall Of Several Models Due To Fire Safety Concerns

Hyundai is recalling more than 390,000 of its select vehicle models due to safety concerns all over the United States and Canada.

The Two Recalls

In fact, Hyundai has initiated two separate recall orders due to reported defects that may cause the car’s engine to catch fire. They involved some models of Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUV, Veloster, Konas, and Elantra models.

The first recall has an estimated 187,000 cars being recalled. It involved affected two-liter engine models of 2019 to 2021 models of Hyundai Veloster and Konas and 2019 and 2020 Hyundai Elantra editions.

All three were reported to have improperly heated piston rings which may result in the deterioration of the scuffs of the engine cylinder.

This flaw can ultimately lead to an array of issues, from engine damage to oil leakage. In some cases, owners’ cars caught on fire due to the said defect.

On the other hand, another recall was started by Hyundai involving its Santa Fe Sport SUV offering. It is noteworthy that some of the models affected in the recall were already included for the second time. The car company is recalling more than 200,000 of the 2013 to 2015 releases of the Santa Fe.

The fault found in the defective Santa Fe models involves the car’s leaky brake fluid. This deficiency can lead to an electric short episode and cause a fire in the car’s anti-lock brake computer system.

What Happens Next?

Authorities have warned consumers to take extra precautions if their car belongs to the affected models in the two Hyundai cars recall. In total, there were more than 20 reported incidents of the affected Hyundai vehicle models accidentally catching fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries that were directly attributed to the said incidents.

Hyundai has promised its customer base that they would provide the necessary remedies involving the recalls in the coming weeks. Some customers are expected to be notified of the solutions for their cars as early as June this year.
