General Motors Faulty Airbag Light Recall 2021 – GM Recalls 285,000 Cars!

The Recall

GM has recalled 285,000 late model Buicks, Escalades, Cadillacs, Chevrolet Corvettes, Tahoes, and Yukons due to an airbag warning light that may not illuminate properly.

According to reports, the airbag warning lights on recalled vehicles may malfunction, flashing at random moments and potentially failing to warn owners of a problem. The issue lies with the communications gateway module, which may process diagnostic data incorrectly.

According to GM, the issue is a vehicle safety problem because the owner may be oblivious that the airbag is defective, increasing the chance of injury in a collision.

The recall affects the following car models manufactured in 2021:

  • Buick Envision SUV
  • Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans
  • Chevrolet Corvette sports car
  • Escalade and Escalade ESV SUVs
  • GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs
  • Tahoe and Suburban SUVs

Where to Reach Out

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall notice, owners can take their vehicles to a dealer for a free communications gateway model upgrade, or the update will be delivered automatically.
