Fiat Chrysler is calling on to its 20,000 customers that are affected by their most recent recall on its Ram trucks due to fire hazard concerns
The car manufacturing company has released a recall order for its 2021 heavy-duty diesel pickup and chassis Ram truck with 6.7L Cummins engines.
The recall order was released for fears of the affected vehicles catching into flames due to a defect on its inside components. According to reports, the affected models have defective heater electrical relays in them that can possibly malfunction.
The malfunctioning can cause it to overheat and cause the vehicle to burst into flames. This issue can happen in very rare cases, including when the vehicle’s engine is off and not in use.
Sold mainly in Canada and the United States, the defective 2021 heavy-duty diesel Ram trucks have caused three reported fire incidents that can be traced back to the defective heater electrical relay.
As of writing, there were no injuries or fatalities reported directly attributed to the recalled vehicles catching fire.
Fiat Chrysler is calling all owners or lessees to reach out to their customer service line at (800) 853-1403 to know whether their Ram truck can meet the qualifications for the recall.
The 2021 Fiat Chrysler Ram Truck Recall will commence on the last day of April this year.
This is not the first time that Fiat Chrysler’s vehicles have been the center of public attention for their alleged defects.
In fact, the company was sued by owners of its Ram truck in the past.
The class action lawsuit filed argued that their 2014-2019 Ram truck models have a defect that can cause them to catch fire without prior notice.
It was reported that some Ram truck drivers got to experience having their flames burst into flames, and they were lucky to be able to get off before it spread on to the other parts of the vehicle.
