Twenty Dehumidifier Brands Withdrawn From The Market Due To Fire Safety Concerns
Topping the recall announcement is the two million dehumidifier items being pulled out of the market due to alleged product overheating and fire hazards present.
According to a report by the Consumer Protection Safety Commission or CPSC, more than twenty (20) different brands of home dehumidifiers made by the company New Widetech were afflicted with the said safety concerns.
Official reports have shown that more than a hundred customers experienced having their dehumidifying units overheat. Some even said that theirs caught on fire. It is believed that the affected products have already caused almost $70 million in damages.
Below are the different dehumidifier brands included in the recall:
- Commercial Cool,
- Danby Designer,
- Danby Premiere,
- Perfect Aire,
- Whirlpool, and
Authorities have warned owners to stop using their dehumidifiers if they are included in the latest recall order. They are advised to contact the manufacturer New Widetech for further refund details. Initial reports suggest that the refund amounts clients may receive depend on the dehumidifier’s actual age of use.
