Whole Foods Recall Cahill’s Cheddar Cheese
Whole Foods Market has recalled two Cahill’s brand cheddar cheese varieties from 44 locations in 22 states due to concerns regarding listeria contamination.

According to the cheese recall notice, the company withdrew its Cahill’s brand cheddar with porter and whiskey cheddar cheeses after a distributor discovered a positive test result for Listeria monocytogenes.
Whole Foods stated that no illnesses have been recorded to date; this is in accordance with the FDA’s official Cahill’s Cheddar Cheese recall announcement.
The cheeses sold — with Price Look-Up Code (PLU) — are:
- Cheddar with Porter — PLU 93579
- Whiskey Cheddar — PLU 54784 and PLU 94884
In addition, Whole Foods stated that the cheeses were sold in the following states:
- New Hampshire
- New York
- North Carolina
- Wisconsin, and
The affected goods were packed in clear wrap and offered in the specialty department. It comes with a Whole Foods Market label bearing the dates “packed on” May 17 – July 26, 2021.
Customers must not consume the product and must discard it, the recall notification adds. According to Whole Foods Market, customers who bought the product in-store are eligible for a full refund with a valid receipt.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that has the potential to cause serious and occasionally lethal infections. Fever, muscle aches, and occasional gastrointestinal problems such as nausea or diarrhea are signs of listeriosis. If the infection progresses into the nervous system, indications such as headache, stiff neck, disorientation, dizziness, or convulsions may ensue.
