Wooden Playsets Made By Backyard Play Systems and Sold by Costco and Lowe’s, Subject for Recall
The Backyard Outdoor Playhouses offered by Costco and Lowe’s are being recalled in the United States and Canada owing to the possibility of children becoming trapped in the roof.
CPSC Recall Alert
Backyard Play Systems has recalled about 5,100 outdoor playsets owing to an entrapment hazard. Children can become caught between the lower portion of the roof and the bottom gable decoration on the roof.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the Backyard Outdoor Playset Recall alert on Nov. 4 for the Turbo Racer, Cloud Racer, Captain’s Fort, and Fort Highlander outdoor playsets, which all have a wooden roof.
The playsets were made in China and sold online via Costco.com and Lowes.com between Mar. 2019 and May 2021 for approximately $1,000 each.
The CPSC is advising consumers to discontinue the use of these playsets immediately. Backyard Play Systems will provide a free repair kit that includes replacement parts, hardware, and instructions. If the purchaser or owner is unable or unwilling to repair it personally, the Monroe, Michigan-based company will send a person to do so.
How to Reach the Company Conducting the Recall
Backyard Play Systems is contacting all previously identified purchasers. Contact the company by phone at 866-890-2211, email at email@example.com, or by completing the online form. Visit cpsc.gov for additional consumer product safety information.
