Drew’s Organic, LLC Issued Voluntary Recall of Potentially Contaminated Aldi Simply Nature Organic Poppy Seed Dressing

Drew’s Organics, LLC., the parent company of Aldi Simply Nature Organic Poppy Seed Dressing, has withdrawn a batch off the shelves due to a processing fault that could cause microbial growth in the product.

Drew’s Organic stated in the recall notice that no illnesses had been reported so far. The recall was conducted when the business noticed a color change in the Simply Nature Organic Poppy Seed Dressing during manufacturing.

The investigation indicated that the pH level has been out of balance, allowing for possible microbial growth such as Clostridium botulinum. According to the recall notice, this discovery declared the product unfit for human consumption.

The recalled dressings are contained in a 12-ounce glass bottle with a “Best if Used By” date of the 15th of February, 2023, and a UPC #4099100023169. The lot code is inscribed above the label on the bottle’s shoulder.

From the 20th of August, 2021, to the 10th of September, 2021, it was distributed to select Aldi locations in the following states:

Clostridium Botulinum

Clostridium botulinum is a rod-shaped anaerobic spore-forming bacteria that produces a protein with distinctive neurotoxicity, as per the Food and Drug Administration.

When such toxin-containing foods are consumed, botulism, a severe type of food poisoning, occurs. The 962 documented botulism outbreaks within the United States between 1899 to 1990 resulted in 2320 cases with 1036 deaths, the agency added.

Drew’s Organic is urging consumers to discontinue using Aldi Simply Nature Organic Poppy Seed Dressing and bring it to the point of purchase to get a full refund.
