WinCo Foods is recalling its 12-ounce bags of its house-label frozen red raspberries due to possible contamination with Norovirus.
The recall, was issued late last week. The affected berries were manufactured by Rader Farms in Bellingham, Washington. WinCo removed all potentially affected products from stores. The raspberries were distributed to WinCo stores in 10 states: Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington, Texas, and Utah.
Norovirus is highly contagious. Common symptoms of the virus vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and watery, non-bloody diarrhea. The virus s also known to cause fever, myalgia and malaise, and headaches. Although most of these symptoms subside within 48 hours, the elderly, young children and people with compromised immune systems experience prolonged periods of illness and severity of symptoms.

No consumer illnesses have been reported to date. Like most recalls we have reported in the last few weeks, the potential contamination was discovered when tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Customers who have purchased the recalled berries should discard the product or return it to a store for a refund.
