Bayer is proposing to pay $8 billion to settle some 18,000 lawsuits claiming that Roundup herbicide, a product of Bayer, causes cancer.
Even though Bayer was open to paying from $6 billion to $8 billion to resolve these lawsuits, the lawyers of the plaintiffs want $10 billion to drop the claims. Bayer doesn’t know how to compensate for the users who haven’t been diagnosed with any illness yet.
Lawyers and attorneys for both sides have been engaged in talks about compensation and resolutions for the current cases and any new cases that may arise. However both the attorneys and lawyers have asked two judges, both in St. Louis, to postpone the cases that are set for trial.
Discussions are ongoing on any settlements or compensation for these cases. We will keep you updated if anything new in this case arises.
