U.S. School Districts File Suit Against Juul for Teen Epidemic

A number of U.S. school districts have filed suit against Juul for its part in contributing to the under age vaping epidemic ad its targeted mareting to teenagers.

School districts in Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, New York and California have filed lawsuits against Juul and other companies, are looking for financial to offset the expenditures necessary to manage the hazards that come along with students using e-cigarettes on campus.

According to the American Medical Association, 27.5% of American high school students and 10.5% of middle school students say they have used e-cigarettes.

The complaint addresses the need for prevention programs, but also the extent to which vaping has become a wide rage problem that schools are forced to deal with, yet it exceeds their financial capacity.

“Because JUUL’s marketing to youth was so effective and the resulting rise in student vaping was so quick, little research exists on the effectiveness of prevention and cessation methods. Schools are, thus, forced to attack the epidemic from multiple angles, each requiring significant expenditures of their limited resources.”

Vaping detection systems can pose a cost as high as $40,000 as $40,000.
