Tropique Jelly Recall Due To Potential Choking Hazard

After discovering the choking hazards posed by its products, Comercial Mexicana International of Bethpage N.Y., announced its recall of Tropique Assorted Fruit and Tropique Jelly Bag Jelly Animal Jar.

Reports confirmed that the small jelly cups containing seaweed extract (carrageenan) may be a potential choking hazard in children.

Despite this issue, the company hasn’t received any reports of injury.

This recall includes the following product:

  • TROPIQUE ASSORTED FRUIT JELLY 30/9PCS/10.6oz (UPC: 732068496333)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL TIGER JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068496050)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL OWL JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068496012)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL DUCK JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068495992)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL BEAR JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068496098)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL PANDA JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068496036)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL PIG JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068496074)
  • TROPIQUE JELLY ANIMAL CAT JAR 6/26OZ (UPC: 732068496111)

According to the company, the Tropique Assorted Fruit comes in a Plastic Green Bag with a fruit design on the front. Moreover, it has nine individual plastic jelly cups inside each pack and a best before date of 09/17/2021.

Meanwhile, the Tropique Jelly Bag Jell Animal Jar comes in a plastic jar with an animal shape. It contains 22 individual plastic jelly cups inside each container and a best before 01/18/2022. 

The recalled products were distributed in retail stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

Consumers who bought the recalled products should refrain from consuming or giving the product to children. Instead, they are advised to discard or return the product to the place of purchase.
