It is undeniable that the onslaught of COVID-19 has left a large impact on every part of each individual’s waking life. The strict social distancing measures imposed by different government bodies alone has a tremendous impact on how we conduct our day-to-day living. This is mainly done to protect the health of one another during these trying times. 

This left us virtually cut off from the usual means of communication that we had with our family and friends, colleagues, and acquaintances before the pandemic hit. Due to the highly contagious nature of COVID-19, many public spaces either religiously follow the government-mandated minimum health standards or stopped operations altogether. Almost all forms of economic activity were put to a grinding halt in the wake of the global pandemic. However, as we wrap up the year, different sectors of the economy are starting to open up to pick up where they have left off. 

We are still in a long shot to recovery but as we assess the damage done by the worldwide public health crisis, we can also say that one of the most hard-hit industries is the travel and tourism sector. 

Different interstate and international travel restrictions decreed by the authorities have left many from the travel and tourism industry to struggle in keeping their businesses afloat. However, these trying times have been really a hard blow for the travel industry which heavily relies on leisure and travel done by tourists of local and international origins. 

Consequentially, the ongoing pandemic has exposed many of the misdeeds done by many from the aforementioned industry. One which is now being prominently investigated is the number of complaints being filed against alleged abuses done by different travel agencies. 

The complaints range from travel agencies forcing customers to accept travel vouchers that they do not want to clients not being awarded any compensation to canceled pre-booked trips.
