Fiat Chrysler is recalling 295,281 Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a software glitch that disables the airbag on impact. There have been no known or reported accidents or injuries related to this malfunction, but the company is taking steps to monitor the problem and repair the lot of vehicles that are affected. This is news, according to reporting from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The vehicles that are included in the recall were made between October 2017 and May 2019. They require a dealer to reprogram a module in the vehicle’s computer software or to replace the unit entirely at no cost to the owner. Fiat Chrysler expects to begin repairs on a full scale basis in July.
Here is the information you need to determine whether or not your truck is included in the recall:
- The model affected is the 2019-2020 Ram 1500
- Reach Fiat Chrysler, LLC Customer Service at 800-853-1403
