Medical Marijuana Recalled Over Contamination Concerns

A medical marijuana company in Ohio has issued a voluntary recall of product due to contamination concerns. Standard Wellness is voluntarily recalling “Standard Drops” after some purchasers claimed the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-infused water-soluble drops were contaminated, according to reports from The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The company told a minimum of 15 medical marijuana dispensaries in Ohio to stop selling the product after officials were informed there was “debris” in it. The debris appeared in pictures posted to Facebook.

In a statement to Fox News, the company said, “Standard Wellness places the highest priority on patient safety and strives to consistently deliver a high-quality product. As a result, we have initiated a voluntary recall on The Standard Drops. We have also suspended all future sales of the product while our quality control team conducts a thorough review [of] the situation.”

Roughly 3,288 bottles of the drops, which contain 110 milligrams of THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a compound in marijuana that causes gives users a high feeling. The drops are to be mixed in water or with another drink.

Also according to The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Ohio Department of Commerce was notified. They put a hold on the sale of the drops.

Commerce spokeswoman Kelly Whitaker said, “Patient safety is of the utmost importance and the Medical Marijuana Control Program is taking this matter seriously to ensure no patient is adversely affected.”

No illnesses have been reported as a result of the debris in this product.

Consumers who purchased the affected items can return the product to the dispensary where purchased for a full refund.
