Instagram Hopes a New Feature Will Help Reduce Online Bullying

This week, Instagram introduced a new feature that will prompt users to double-check their posts for offensive statements.

In a blog post, the social media platform says the new feature allows users “to pause and reconsider their words before posting.” The introduction of this feature across the platform follows a successful testing period.

Instagram continues, “As part of our long-term commitment to lead the fight against online bullying, we’ve developed and tested AI that can recognize forms of bullying on Instagram. Results have been promising, and we’ve found these types of nudges can encourage people to reconsider their words when given a chance.”

Instagram saysis rolling the feature out in select markets and globally in the coming months.
