GPS Lifetime Maps Scam
In recent months we’ve seen a trend among many consumers in that their GPS devices are no longer working as advertised. Drivers across the world are not getting what they’ve paid for as their GPS Lifetime Maps options have been ripped from underneath them, rendering their GPS devices useless.
Despite these GPS systems being advertised with “Free Lifetime Map Updates” included with the initial purchase, many customers have been informed that their units did not qualify for any new updates, and have been outdated! In fact, independent advertising regulators in other countries have recently cracked down on these unfair practices.
Moreover, consumers have seen their devices—models as new as 2018—become useless, as these devices are, wrongfully, no longer included within the Free Lifetime Map Updates claim. GPS companies have now come out to state that they have to scrap their former promise of a lifetime of map updates on numerous “older” models.
Many GPS Customers have received emails informing them that their active subscriptions to map updates will continue until these subscriptions run out. However, these customers will not be able to renew maps or receive new software updates, angering many GPS device owners.
Popular GPS companies have stated that these older generation navigation devices do not have sufficient resources to run the newest maps and software available, insofar that these older maps will quickly become out of date, and as such, their navigation ability will be much less accurate. To close, these companies have also offered up that this may be the perfect opportunity to discover what the new range of navigation products look like.
Yes, that last statement made us laugh as well.
