TAKE ACTION: Ensure The FAIR Fees Provision and Keep Airline Charges Low!
By Consider The Consumer on September 5, 2018
The following is a prompt urging you to reach out to your congressmen and ask them to ensure the FAIR Fees Provision, protecting passengers from unreasonable and disproportionate fees charged by airlines.
Consumer Action states that in recent years, consumers have experienced ever-increasing fees for basic airline services. Change and cancellation fees for airline tickets can be up to $200 and the fee is sometimes more than the original ticket.
The bipartisan FAIR Fees provision in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization bill will protect passengers from unreasonable and disproportionate fees charged by airlines. This provision will protect consumers by ensuring change and cancellation fees are not unreasonable or disproportionate to the costs of the serviced provided. That means passengers will cover ONLY the costs of processing the new tickets and any potential loss of revenue due to the cancellation.
This bill is approaching final passage—ask your elected officials to reject any version of the FAAReauthorization bill that DOES NOT include the FAIR Fees provision!
