E. Coli Outbreak in Bison

Northfork Bison Distributions Inc. of Saint-Leonard, Quebec, recalled Bison burgers sold in the eastern and central United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people in seven states— Connecticut, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania— got sick. Eight people have been hospitalized, no deaths have been reported.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said the meat was packaged between February 22 and April 30, under Fossil Farms, Northfork Canadian Bison Ranch and SayersBrook Bison Ranch brands.

Customers who bought the bison should discard the meat or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
