Several Consumers Claim Sound Issues
After receiving reports from consumers that some of its AirPods Pro have ‘sound issues,’ Apple has started a free service program to replace the defective earphones.
Last Friday, on Apple’s support page, the company announced that a ‘small percentage’ of its consumers have noticed crackling or static sounds while using their AirPods. Moreover, some reports also stated that its noise-cancellation feature is ineffective.
According to Apple, its units were manufactured before October 2020.
Due to the issue, Apple has started an AirPods Pro exchange program that will let consumers replace their defective AirPods Pro for free. However, Apple clarified that the devices should have one of the following flaws:
Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone; or
Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise.
MacRumors stated that the issues in AirPods Pro began circulating in April.
