Aon PLC Failed To Properly Secure Personally Identifiable Information

Aon PLC is a multinational financial services firm that sells a wide variety of risk-mitigation products.

On February 25, 2022 Aon detected a year-long data breach. The company investigated the breach and determined that its systems had been breached several times between December 29, 2020 and February 26, 2022. More than three months after the breach was uncovered by the company, Aon notified individuals whose information may have been impacted.

According to the class action complaint, Aon failed to properly secure personally identifiable information like Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and benefit enrollment information.
