2020 Subaru Outback and Legacy Models Recalled for Braking Issue

According to a notice from the NHTSA, the 2020 Subaru Outback and 2020 Subaru Legacy are being recalled – even as initial shipments arrive at dealerships.

It appears there’s a missing or loose bolt in the brake pedal mount. This can hinder the braking process and impose the risk of a crash. Subaru reported this issue to NHTSA on September 18.

Not all new 2020 Outback and Legacy models are affected. Only 3,467 Outback and Legacy vehicles manufactured in late July and August are affected.

Subaru plans to reach out to owners by mail or email. The fix is simple: dealers will inspect and replace the bolt or brake pedal, if necessary. There will be no cost to owners. Concerned Outback and Legacy owners can call Subaru customer service at 844-373-6614, visit the Subaru recall site, or check their VIN with federal officials for further information.
