Iaso Instant Tea: Total Life Changes Tea Reportedly Contain THC
Hemp is slowly getting into the limelight as it is used in textiles, food, and other products according to Healthline. Although the controversy lies in its relationship to marijuana, THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the tightrope between the two of them.
What Is THC?
It is the psychoactive component of cannabis, and it is what makes marijuana a recreational drug. With hemp, it is cannabis that only has less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.
Although with Iaso Instant Tea, it claims to have 0.0% total THC, and it is proven through independent laboratory tests. As the plaintiff of the case is a parolee in New Jersey, he was comfortable enough to use Total Life Changes’ product because of its claims.
Ricardo Santiago was surprised though when after his regular parole hearing, his urine test came back positive for THC. He informed his parole officer that he did not know he consumed THC and mentioned his use of the Total Life Changes tea.
His parole officer allowed him to confirm his suspicions and used this opportunity to have the product tested at a New Jersey lab. Results showed that Iaso Instant Tea had 700 ppm or parts per million of THC.
They considered his drug test during his regular parole hearing to not violate his parole, but he asked for legal help and had the product tested at a different lab.
Results from a California lab where Santiago sent samples to report 800 ppm of THC present in the Total Life Changes’ product.
