Ring Video Doorbell Class Action Details – Hidden Monthly Charges

Ring LLC Gets Dinged With Class Action Lawsuit Due To Hidden Fees

We often want to make sure our homes are safe whether or not we’re at home, and most of us would resort to installing cameras in and out of our houses.

There are also a few security systems where you can see and talk to who might knock on your door, but you’re actually miles away.

How Much Does Ring Security Systems Cost?

Ring is one such home security system, and their products range from outdoor motion-detecting cameras, alarm security systems, sensors to a lot more.

But despite the benefits that one may get from Ring, a class-action suit was filed against them, alleging there are hidden subscription fees.

On their website, there are several security systems and cameras that people can buy, and this link shows two subscriptions that people can take advantage of.

So does Ring have a monthly fee?

The Basic Protection Plan costs $3/month or $30/year for one device, and the Plus Protection Plan costs $10/month or $100/year, and you can activate video recording for all your devices at home. You can also get 24/7 professional monitoring for your Ring Alarm.

Although the class action lawsuit is claiming there is a hidden monthly service fee and that Ring will make the service unusable if the fees are not paid.

Plaintiffs reported that they bought their Ring doorbell security camera systems way back in 2017, amounting to $450.

There was also no sign that they would need to pay a monthly subscription fee to use the system.

They also point to another product that is in complete contrast with the security system they bought, where it shows on the packaging that it requires a $3/month fee for the buyers to access the online streaming features.

The plaintiffs allege the monthly service fee should be on all Ring video security systems packaging, as it would defeat the purpose of getting a home security system if you can’t access the video or be able to record with it.

These are essential to and is needed by the very people who buy the products.

Asides from the pricing issues, there is reportedly another class-action lawsuit where the issue revolves around privacy and is known to share data with law enforcement agencies.
