The Hyundai Electric Car False Advertising Class Action Lawsuit is seeking to take the auto manufacturer to court for purportedly not keeping their customers in the know of the actual situation with their electric vehicles.

Filed by plaintiff Sebastien Friche in a California court, the class action lawsuit shared that he and others were affected as a result of a battery defect that Hyundai found out on their car models.

Friche, who owns a Hyundai Kona EV 2019 electric car model, shared that he was one amongst others whose Hyundai cars’ range was reduced by the company without prior information.

The complainant shared that he filed a case against the company after his Kona 2019 car was unusable for a long period of time as a result of it being impounded at a dealer. The shop’s management contended that the car’s battery was covered by a recall initiated by Hyundai, but the owner was not given a definite time for a repair date nor was given support to find a car rental.

Upon continued prodding, Hyundai was able to lend a hand in helping Friche in finding a replacement car for use during the repairs, but it was already too late. The plaintiff detailed that he ended up paying for bills for gas expenses and other issues.

Further Details Regarding The Case

The class action shared that the very strict recall policies used by Hyundai were not the only matter it would like to discuss in court.

In addition, Hyundai faced accusations that their cars’ battery life got shortened spans and ranges after the company introduced an update on their battery mechanisms to address reported fire hazards present.

As a result, the Hyundai Electric Car Range Class Action Lawsuit 2021 retorted that Friche and other Hyundai owners were only left to enjoy only a fraction of the advertised vehicle range figures.

Complainant Friche is seeking to form and represent a Class group consisting of Hyundai Kona EV (2019 to 2021 models) and Hyundai Ionic EV (2020 model) car owners and leaseholders all over the country. A Californian Class Action Subclass is also included in the petition.
