Bob’s Discount Furniture ‘Goof Proof Insurance’ Does Not Honor Customers’ Goofs Claims
A class action lawsuit is attempting to hold bargain furniture company Bob’s Discount Furniture accountable for its alleged acts of selling ‘Goof Proof’ furniture items, yet it does not accept any coverage even on the most basic of mishaps purportedly guaranteed by its insurance to its buyers.
Gina Argenbright v. Bob’s Discount Furniture, LLC and Guardian Protection Products, Inc.
Bob’s Discount Furniture Slapped With Class Action By Customer
Filed in an Illinois court, the Goof Proof Insurance Class Action Lawsuit is a legal case headed by complainant Gina Argenbright. It aims to take Bob’s Discount Furniture and Guardian Protection Products, Inc. to court for reported violations of different consumer protection laws at both federal and state levels.
Plaintiff Argenbright argues that both companies team up to provide their clients with insurance coverage for the furniture they buy. Called ‘Goof Proof Protection,’ it is a type of insurance coverage that supposedly guarantees and allows for accidental damage caused by a ‘goof’ – which can be either of the following: careless mistake, unexpected slip, and others.
Although the coverage should be enough and is warranted, it is said that the pair do not honor the original coverage whenever a patron will come in and file a claim on their broken furniture item.
Argenbright shares that she bought a queen-sized bed from Bob’s Discount Furniture in 2019. Along with her purchase, she topped it off with a Goof Proof Protection insurance amounting to almost $40.
When one of the wooden slats of the bed got broken a year later when its owner tried to get on it, the plaintiff tried to claim insurance coverage from the store where she bought it. However, her claim was denied because the damage was not allegedly caused by accident.
The class action stresses that consumers like Argenbright are made to believe that the Goof Proof Insurance that they buy besides the furniture piece will cover accidental damages.
The complainant even decrees that the salesperson at the store where she bought the bed assured her that the insurance coverage would definitely cover everything and anything.
The Goof Proof Insurance Class Action Lawsuit aims to form and represent a Class group consisting of Illinois buyers who purchased any Goof Proof Insurance plans on top of their furniture items from Bob’s Discount Furniture.
Different charges such as violations of Illinois law, breaches of contract and warranty, and the like are included in the case filing.
