What You Need To Know
The FDA announced that a range of cancer types was reported in the trial. However, they clarified that Belviq weight loss users frequently reported pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, and lung cancer.
Due to the increased risk for cancer, Eisai said that they would voluntarily withdraw the medication from the market.
“The potential risk of cancer associated with the drug outweighs the benefit of treatment,” stated Janet Woodcock, director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
