INVESTIGATION ALERT: Attorneys Looking Into Human Sex Trafficking Cases
Professional legal officers are currently looking into the possibility of starting legal action against erring entities that promote human trafficking in their establishments.
According to an announcement of the investigation shared on several news channels, several attorneys are looking into reports of how different agents work together in order to traffick unwilling victims to the trade, particularly in sex trafficking for this specific scenario.
But first, what is human trafficking?
It comes in many forms, but in essence, according to the Department of Homeland Security, human trafficking involves the perpetrator using several tactics such as force, fraud, and/or coercion to obtain some sort of labor or commercial sex act from the victim.
They use tools such as social media and other Internet communication platforms in order to identify victims and communicate with them. Most of the victims are weak and belong to the marginalized sectors of modern-day society.
However, to keep the whole machine well oiled up and running, individuals and organizations, big and small, team up to continue committing the crime.
Human Sex Trafficking Can Happen To Anyone, Anywhere, And Everywhere
Unlike the popular portrayal in different forms of visual media, human sex trafficking may happen to anyone at any given place and time.
There is a worrying trend that shows that young persons are more susceptible to fall victim to a human sex trafficker.
According to data from the United States Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, teenagers aged between 12 to 14 years mostly fall into the hands of these malicious perpetrators.
Data also show that these teens have come from the fringes of society – those who come from foster homes and runaways.
There are cases where incidents are reported on different parts of the tourism and hospitality services industry, such as hotels, drive-ins, cruises, etc., to even big-time technology companies and firms.
Cases regarding them are being heard in different courts across the country as of press time.
Nevertheless, not all victims are able to receive justice for all the hurt and pain they have gone through.
Victims deal with a lot of pain and emotional trauma that will haunt them for the rest of their waking lives.
If You Are A Victim, File A Complaint Now
Though several authorities and law enforcement agencies are working side-by-side to fulfill their mandate in protecting current and future victims, the fight against human sex trafficking is far from over.
