Roundup Class Action Settlement – Bayer’s Monsanto Keeps Receiving New Lawsuits…

Monsanto Received Another Roundup Cancer Lawsuit as $87 Million Award Is Maintained

Monsanto is facing several lawsuits about its Roundup weedkiller, from household gardeners to farmworkers. It has reached many settlements to end the allegations of false advertising and that Roundup products cause cancer.

Monsanto Continues to Receive Roundup Lawsuits Amid Settlements

Monsanto remains liable for $87 million to a California couple following the California Supreme Court’s rejection of its appeal to dismiss a 2019 ruling this week, while the complaints against the Bayer AG subsidiary continue to come in.

Alva and Alberta Pilliod have been awarded the damages after a jury ruled that they effectively claimed that Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller caused them cancer.

This week, another consumer lawsuit was launched against Monsanto, alleging that Roundup weedkiller is defective, hazardous to human health, and is unsuitable for marketing and sale in commerce.

Gene Whitlow Wyatt, the lead plaintiff, also argues that Monsanto failed to offer proper instructions or warnings concerning the weedkiller that contains glyphosate, a chemical recognized as a probable carcinogen by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Like the Pilliod’s and others, Wyatt is claiming that his exposure to Roundup weedkiller resulted in the development of B-cell follicular non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

According to the Roundup Class Action, glyphosate and Roundup have long been linked to carcinogenicity and the development of several types of cancer, including but not limited to non-Hodgkin’s and Hodgkin’s lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and soft tissue sarcoma.

The company needs to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in damages to plaintiffs alleging that Roundup weedkiller caused them cancer, including a $289 million Roundup Class Action Settlement in 2018 to a California groundskeeper.

Roundup is Safer than Table Salt, Says Monsanto

Wyatt asserts that Monsanto has been aware of Roundup’s carcinogenic effects since the 1980s but has failed to correct the issue.

Additionally, Wyatt says that Monsanto continues to offer Roundup as a safe weedkiller, even claiming it is safer than table salt.

According to the lawsuit, the defendant made the statements with complete disregard for the plaintiff’s and the general public’s safety.

Wyatt claims that Monsanto is liable for a variety of charges, including negligence, as well as breach of express and implied warranties. The plaintiff seeks a jury trial and monetary damages for compensatory, punitive, as well as other economic damages.
