Plumbing fitting products manufacturing company NIBCO Inc. has decided to settle claims filed against them by complainants contending that their products ended up causing leakages and damages to residential homes in Alabama and Texas. The company is slated to pay $7.65 million as settlement.
Plaintiffs Matsons And Yolanda Garrett Win Over, NIBCO Inc. Agree To Settle
The settlement originally came from two different class-action lawsuits filed in federal courts in Alabama and Texas by plaintiffs David and Barbara Matson and Yolanda Garret against NIBCO Inc., accusing the company’s plumbing and other home fitting products of causing leaks that have damaged several homes. NIBCO’s clamps, fittings, and tubing were all mentioned in the case.
Potential settlement award claims vary as different claimants’ filing will be treated differently in the settlement proceedings by the officials.

Alabama and Texas residents whose homes have undergone construction plumbing services by the companies D.R. Horton, Inc. – Birmingham and Dupree Plumbing Co. Inc., and Continental Homes of Texas L.P. and Christianson Air Conditioning and Plumbing LLC in each respective state since 2005 can join the settlement process.
Those who live in the following cities in Alabama whose houses have been constructed by D.R. Horton, Inc. – Birmingham and have undergone plumbing services directly or on behalf of Dupree Plumbing Co. Inc. can file their claims:
- Bella Vista,
- Calera, Chelsea,
- Trussville, and
Those who live in the following cities in Texas whose houses have been made by Continental Homes of Texas L.P. and have undergone plumbing services directly or on behalf of Christianson Air Conditioning and Plumbing LLC can file their claims:
- Live Oak,
- Medina County,
- New Braunfels,
- Royse City,
- San Antonio,
- San Marcos,
- Sequin, and
- Universal City.
Alabama and Texas households whose properties fall under the abovementioned criteria should also have NIBCO Inc. fittings, clamps, and tubings installed by the mentioned companies that have shown leaks and damages.
The settlement officials will check whether the reported leaks and damages are covered by the settlement agreement terms. To strengthen their claims, Class members are encouraged to prepare different pieces of documentation such as receipts, bills of sale, purchase order proofs, photos of the leaks and damages, and the like.
Qualified claimants can make different types of claims depending on the extent of the damage and other factors.
The deadline for filing a claim for eligible claimants is set until the 16th of May 2025. A final hearing will be held in court on the 9th of September, 2021.
