McAfee Class Action Settlement Details – Auto-renewal Prices…

McAfee Pays Up Subscribers In Rebate Settlement

Privacy is a big issue and concern for many of us, especially in the current digital space that everybody is operating in.

With the digital space being maximized in a scope it has never been done before due to the push for remote work and automation brought upon by COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease-2019), the number of users using the Internet has exploded.

Ergo many people with malicious intent have taken this as an opportunity to earn big time.

Data breaches have been a very common occurrence these days, but you can protect yourself by doing a few simple things – from keeping your personal information private and to buying your own antivirus software.

However, antivirus software companies, too, have been involved in legal battles for their alleged misdeeds done to their customers.

One story worth telling is how McAfee got into legal trouble because of its practices.

According to available resources, the class action lawsuit filed against the company revolved around the argument that McAfee violated a number of different legislation in California pertaining to how it does its auto-renewal features in its security software.

It also involved how they conducted their advertisements or promoting discounts and reference prices. This has been known as the McAfee rebate fiasco.

The McAfee class action lawsuits filed argue that the company offered non-auto-renewal subscription holders of its software a discount that is presented against the regular pricing.

This has been contended to be untrue because the company will never do such a thing.

Another point was that McAfee charged customers who availed their auto-renewal subscription the false “regular” sales price, which they claim is their “current” regular price even though such prices were not offered to any other customer of the company.

In order to avoid undergoing trial in court, the company has decided to settle the case. This leaves affected class members to receive more than $10 as a settlement to the McAfee Class Action settlement.

To be able for you to receive compensation if you believe you are eligible for one, you need to be a resident of the United States (U.S.) that have paid for an automatic renewal subscription for any of the security software offered by McAfee between the dates of January 10, 2010, to February 10, 2015.

As of press time, the company is in the process of the fairness hearing in court.

This is a part of the whole process of the lawsuit before the settlement goes into full swing. When all has been finalized and the court gives its seal of approval, only then can the company process everybody’s claims.
