Settlement details for the Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP Lawsuit
Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the class action lawsuit with a $9 million settlement to avoid further litigation.
In addition to the $9 million settlement, the Texas-based firm has also agreed to have their debt collection activities reviewed and overseen by a licensed California attorney and includes the letters that consumers report sent to Californians.
The settlement benefits individuals who paid their debts specified in the debt collection letters they received from the law firm between September 16, 2013, and April 15, 2019.
The condition is that these individuals must have paid Linebarger for a debt they owed to the law firm’s client, of which Linebarger received a fee from the same payment.
There are around 151,000 individuals identified as Class Members, each entitled to claim a check refund of 22.32% of what they paid to Linebarger.
Payment claims are capped at $9 million, which excludes attorneys’ fees, plaintiff awards, and administration fees. Payments may be reduced should claim to exceed the cap.
Valid claim forms must be filed and submitted online or by mail by March 2, 2021.
The deadline for exclusion and objection to the Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP class action lawsuit has passed, scheduled last July 30, 2019.
The final approval hearing has also passed and was set for August 23, 2019. Consumers can get more information from the Class Counsel.
