It was contended that the Mars Red paint used in select car models under the management of the Mercedes-Benz brand encountered several issues. They allegedly ranged from bubbling, blistering, and peeling of the exterior paint used on cars, though they were only a few years down the road after purchase. 

There were even some reported cases where some car owners have observed their cars exhibiting the same issues while their vehicles were still under the warranty period.

Emily Pinon v. Mercedes-Benz Settlement Agreement Information

Per the settlement agreement’s details, Mercedes-Benz has agreed to pay for the repair costs of its customers who ended up having their cars repaired due to the issue with the Mars Red paint used. Furthermore, the company also promised to cover future repairs that will be directly attributable to the issue with the allegedly flawed Mars Red exterior paint used on the vehicle.

They will be grouped depending on the mileage the car had during the time of the repair.

Additionally, the car company also promised to vouch the full amount for future car repairs related to the Red Mars Red paint mishap.

Listed below are the important dates eligible Mercedes-Benz customers need to remember in the settlement process and proceedings. 

  • Claims will only be accepted until July 27, 2021;
  • Filing of manifestation for not wanting to be included in the settlement proceedings is also acceptable only until July 27;
  • The court hearing on the Emily Pinon v. Mercedes-Benz Settlement is scheduled for August 30 this year. 

Those who do not file a claim at all will not be able to receive a cash payment from the settlement funds.
