What You Need To Know
The class action lawsuit alleged that Great Value ground coffee, Market Pantry coffee, and other related brands were wrongfully labeled. The labels scammed consumers by saying that it could brew a certain amount of coffee from each package. However, the plaintiffs revealed that the cup numbers were inflated.
After facing the lawsuit, Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, Mother Parker’s Tea & Coffee USA, Ltd., and Reily Foods Company settled the class action lawsuit by agreeing to pay millions to consumers.
However, they didn’t admit to any wrongdoing. Aside from paying $20 million, the defendants will change their labeling practices, including their products’ packaging, along with print, graphic, online, and television ads.
In this settlement, eligible Class Members can claim $1 for each eligible Market Pantry coffee, Great Value ground coffee, or other product they purchased. If a class member can provide the receipt or other proof of purchase, they can claim up to $30. Meanwhile, those with no proof can claim up to $5.
The deadline for submitting a claim in the Great Value ground coffee class action settlement is Nov. 18, 2020. Meanwhile, the final hearing was set on Nov. 16, 2020.
