Background on the Califia Farms Class Action Settlement
A recent class action lawsuit was filed against Califia Farms for allegedly deceiving consumers by marketing their vanilla almond milk products as containing vanilla when the ingredients list does not include real vanilla but unspecified “Natural Flavors” which were found to be artificial vanilla flavoring derived from tree bark or lignin.
The Califia Farms Non-Dairy Class Action Lawsuit claims that “Natural flavor’ refers to ‘the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive…which contains the flavoring constituents’ from a natural source such as plant material and can refer to combinations of natural flavors.”
